Last night, my fellow board members and I hosted the inaugural event of The Field: Detroit’s Culinary Collaborative at Detroit City Distillery. It was a fun evening, where I had the pleasure of moderating a lively panel discussion with Alexandra Clark of Bon Bon Bon, David Vermiglio of Grey Ghost Detroit, Jon Kung of Kung Food Market Studio and Matt Tulpa of Salt & Saffron and Vicecream Detroit. We welcomed seventy-five folks from the food and beverage industry to join the conversation, and enjoy delicious food and drinks, as we discussed how to advance our mission.
What is The Field? It is a nonprofit organization formed to provide a platform for members to exchange ideas, network, collaborate, and share resources to start and grow their culinary businesses. The group allows members access to individuals and existing businesses that have readily available information, experience, and resources in Detroit and the surrounding area. As an emerging dining destination, this organization intends to foster a collaborative attitude and healthy competition; yet work together to contribute to a growing economy.
Last night’s kickoff was just the start of something we hope to be a wonderful resource for those interested in growing their businesses. For more information on how to become a member, or information on future events and programming, please visit www.thefielddetroit.org.
As an attorney in the industry and self-proclaimed foodie, I look forward to continuing my work with The Field and helping this food economy grow.
