The odds are that the General Conference for the United Methodist Church will not occur in 2021. Both conservative and progressive thought leaders believe this to be true. The Commission on the General Conference has extended at least a dozen reasons why an in person General Conference will not occur and has offered about a dozen more reasons why an online version of the event cannot occur.
